Does my name show on the notes I leave on a review link?
Yes. With the Docmend Chrome extension, a reviewer types their name once on the review link, and every note carries it. There is no sign-in and nothing to install. Docmend stores the name you type with your note and the text you selected, and a PDF downloaded with notes shows the reviewer’s name on every note.
Google Docs comments show the commenter’s account, and on a Docmend review link each reviewer types their name once, so every note carries it. See also whether the reviewer has to install anything, whether a reviewer can edit the file and how to get client feedback on a document.
How names are added to review notes
- Add Docmend to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. It is free and needs no account.
- The sender clicks Create review link and sends the link by email or chat.
- You open it in any browser, select text, and leave a note. You type your name once. There is no sign-in and nothing to install.
- Your notes appear in Docmend, and one click adds them to the sender’s Doc as comments on the same text.
- For a PDF, the sender can click Download PDF with notes. Each note is added as a standard PDF comment, with the reviewer’s name on every note.
Common questions
Does my name show on the notes I leave on a review link?
Yes. With the Docmend Chrome extension, a reviewer types their name once on the review link, and every note carries it. There is no sign-in and nothing to install. Docmend stores the name you type with your note and the text you selected, and a PDF downloaded with notes shows the reviewer’s name on every note.
Do I need an account to leave notes?
No. On a Docmend review link, anyone can highlight text and leave notes using only their name.
What does Docmend store with my note?
Notes store the name the reviewer types, their note, and the selected text; signatures store the signature image and name.
Can I change the document from the link?
No. A Docmend review link shows a read-only copy, so reviewers can’t change the document. They can highlight text, leave notes, and approve or sign.
