Can my client sign on their phone?

By the Docmend team · Updated 2026-10-18

Short answer

Yes. With the Docmend Chrome extension, you send a signing link that opens in a mobile browser, so your client can sign on a phone or a laptop with no account. They draw or type a signature and click Finish. The signed PDF, with a signing certificate, is emailed to you both.

Instead of an attachment, the other person gets a link. They open it in their browser, draw or type a signature, and click Finish. See also signing a PDF without an account, leaving PDF comments from a phone and how to get someone to sign a document online for free.

How your client signs on a phone

  1. Add Docmend to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. It is free and needs no account.
  2. Upload a PDF or use your Google Doc, tap where your client should sign, and send.
  3. Enter your client’s email, or copy the signing link and send it yourself.
  4. Your client opens the link on a phone or laptop, draws or types a signature, and clicks Finish. They need no account.
  5. The signed PDF is emailed to you and to your client, with a signing certificate as the last page.

Common questions

Can my client sign on their phone?

Yes. With the Docmend Chrome extension, you send a signing link that opens in a mobile browser, so your client can sign on a phone or a laptop with no account. They draw or type a signature and click Finish. The signed PDF, with a signing certificate, is emailed to you both.

Does my client need to install an app?

No. With a Docmend signing link, they open the link in any browser, draw or type a signature, and click Finish. They do not create an account and do not install anything.

How do I get the signed copy back?

As soon as your client clicks Finish, the signed PDF is emailed to you with a signing certificate attached as the last page. It also appears in Docmend under Send for signature, with a download button. Your client gets a copy too.

Is it a certified e-signature?

No. Docmend’s signing links provide simple electronic signatures (drawn or typed signature, name, date, signing certificate). For contracts that need a certified or qualified e-signature, use a dedicated signing service.
