How do both sides get the signed PDF?

By the Docmend team · Updated 2026-10-10

Short answer

As soon as the client clicks Finish on the signing link, Docmend emails the signed PDF to you and to the client. The last page is a signing certificate. You can also open Send for signature in Docmend and download the file. The Docmend Chrome extension is free on the Chrome Web Store.

You do not wait for the client to forward a copy. The email goes out when they finish. See also how to get a Google Doc signed, signing a PDF without an account, what the signing certificate shows and how to get someone to sign a document online for free.

How it works

  1. Add Docmend to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. It is free and needs no account.
  2. After it opens, send a signature request for a Google Doc or PDF from the Docmend side panel.
  3. The client opens the signing link, draws or types a signature, and clicks Finish.
  4. Docmend emails the signed PDF to both addresses used on the request, with a signing certificate as the last page.
  5. You can also download the same file from Send for signature in Docmend if you need another copy.
